Concrete Jungle, by Victoria Chassé

Students are asked to explore the concept of harsh urban environments that lack green space, trees, plant life, and grass. Concrete jungles are made up of large buildings, crowded spaces, and can be unwelcoming places to live. In 1969, zoologist Desmond Morris released a book titled "The Human Zoo" and argued in it that human beings are not wired to live in big, crowded modern-day cities. Through the creation of an artwork, students may decide if they agree or have a different take on this theory.
